MARSHALL — Dorothy D. Scott, 83, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, in Longview, Texas. She was born November 30, 1929, to Samuel and Etta Edward Breazeale.
Dorothy married James Allen Scott in June 1948 in Harleton, Texas. She served as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 from 1981-93. Dorothy retired from nursing after many years as an LVN at several local nursing homes. She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church at Lake O' The Pines. Dorothy loved to travel and had a special love for animals.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Allen Scott of Jefferson; sons, Jimmie Allen Scott and wife, Sue, of Kilgore, and Clifford Scott and wife, Fran, of White Oak; grandchildren, Shelly Smith and husband, Jerry, Stacie Morris and husband, Steve, Franklin Scott and wife, Jessica, and Ranita Brown and husband, Jason; sister, Evelyn Fitzgerald of New Mexico; six great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beatrice Pruitt and Grace Miller; and a brother, William Breazeale.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Lake O' The Pines, Texas, with Pastor Billie Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery in Harleton, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, October 9, 2013, at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Howard Treadwell, Charlie Treadwell, Doyle Younger, Arty Wyatt, Ross Richerson and Bob Lock.
