Arpin - Robert K. Skilton age 71 died on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at home with his family by his side. He was born on July 24, 1947 in Buffalo, New York to Warren and Janet (Saunders) Skilton. Robert was a 1965 graduate of South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, MA. He attended one year at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI before he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska from 1967 until 1969, then returned to Andrews University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Music Education. Robert taught in Battle Creek for a year, then in Cicero, IN as a music instructor. He taught part-time in Keene, TX while working on and attaining his Master's in Music Education at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He was married to Linda Schroeder on March 20, 1977 in Marshfield. For the next three years, the couple lived in Pendleton, OR where Robert taught at Harris Pine Academy. They moved to Spencerville, MD, teaching music until their move to Wisconsin in 1982 where he continued teaching part-time in various schools and giving private lessons. Since moving to the Columbus area in 2007, Robert volunteered as the music director for Peterson Elementary, was the director for the Columbus Community Choir for several years and was passionate about his prison ministry. Robert enjoyed playing his trombone, performing in the Walla Walla Symphony as a string bassist and cheering on the Packers and Brewers. He loved teaching music to his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Linda of Fall River; a daughter Rebecca (Todd) Kelly of Fall River and a son Richard Skilton (Dawn Romanesko) of Green Bay; two grandchildren Lydia and Dylan Kelly; one brother Gary (Kathy) Skilton of Apopka, FL; father-in-law Walter Schroeder of Arpin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Rosie Schroeder of Arpin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gail Enikeev and mother-in-law Esther Schroeder in 2010. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Wisconsin Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church, N2355 Duborg Road, Columbus. Pastor Jonathan Fetrick will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Arpin, Wisconsin at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 with full military honors.
