Ronald A. Eckes, 72, Marshfield, died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until service time.

Ronald was born on July 26, 1940 in Deer Creek Township, Taylor County to Andrew and Helen (Kohlbeck) Eckes. He was a 1958 graduate of Loyal High School. He married the love of his life, Pearl O. Moen on January 9, 1960 and they were married for 53 years.

Ron worked in sales at various businesses, including Reigel Plumbing & Heating, V & H Automotive, Marshfield, and lastly at Rapids Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in Wisconsin Rapids until he retired.

He had a passion for hunting, spending time with his sons and grandchildren and cooking. He also liked the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, NASCAR and Indy racing, and telling a good joke.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, and their children, Mark (Annie) Eckes and Dawn (Charlie) Schneider, all of Marshfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Jenna (Kurt) VanDenheuvel, Amanda Eckes, Charlie Schneider, Willie Schneider, Kaila Eckes, Desiree Eckes, Karly Eckes, Scott Eckes and Allie Eckes, and a great granddaughter, Lakyn. He is further survived by 2 sisters and a brother, Elaine Hubatch of California, Ken (Rose) Eckes of Weyerhaeuser, WI and Donna (Jerry) Welch of Marshfield, and a sister-in-law, Sandy Eckes of Rice Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Tim and Scott Eckes, a brother, Arnie Eckes and a sister, Celia Koeberl.

The family will designate a memorial in Ron's name at a later date.

Ron spent the last few days of his life at Marshfield Care Center where he received the most wonderful care and support from the staff. You gave him so much peace. Thank you from Ron and his loving family. Also a special thank you to Ron's little friend, Heather Dampier.
