You are relieved, brother, your shipmates will continue the watch until we are relieved. Fair winds and following seas.

Note to family: I served on the USS Truxtun, CGN-35 back in 1981-83. We may not have served on the ship at the same time, though since we had both served on the "Tommy-T" as we called our ship, a part of us became a part of it just as part of it became a part of us. Every person who served on the Truxtun before, during, and after our own time aboard, all share the common bonds that only a sailor knows -- the ship, the sea, and our shipmates.

Mike, They don't make them like him anymore. My father was one of a kind. His infectious laughter and cheerful nature has always brought joy to everyone throughout his life. He will be missed terribly, and we will continue to honor his memory in our prayers. As hard as it seems, we all will get through this difficult time and emerge stronger. Rest In Peace, Michael David Smith.
I love you Dad I will be strong for you.
