Paul Florenz Obituary

Paul A. Florenz, 69, died Thursday at St. Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Kolb), with whom he shared 47 years of love and adventures, son Major Andrew R. Florenz (and Kyra), daughter Catherine D. Florenz, and daughter Martha Kolb Florenz Marello (and Chris). His pride in his wonderful children was unparalleled. Paul was also lucky enough to have seven adorable grandchildren. He was born in Lawrence, MA, and attended Philips Academy in Andover. Paul graduated from Dickinson College, and was granted a J.D. from the New England School of Law in 1979. He maintained a busy law practice from 1979 to 2018, first with Kolb & Florenz, P.C, and later with Kolb, Vasiliadis & Florenz, LLC. Paul was deeply involved with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, and served on its Board of Managers, most recently as Vice President, for many, many years. He was also Chairman of the House Staff. His love of the music and devotion to the Choir were unmatched. He was also a faithful member of Bethlehem Rotary for many years, and was actively serving on its Board of Directors. Paul dedicated many years to Lutheran Manor of the Lehigh Valley, and has acted as the President of the Board of Directors for the past 32 years. Most recently he oversaw the recent building of the new Wellness Center. Paul was not currently a member of any organized church, but was the very ideal of a Christian individual: a model of tolerance, service and love. This community will be the lesser for his loss. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem, at 4:00pm. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. Please do not send flowers. Online condolences may be sent to www.pearsonfh.com.

Janie and family,
Scott and I just saw the notice of Paul's passing tonight (Feb. 24) while reading the Dickinson magazine. We are so shocked and saddened. How we wish we had followed through on our casual comment that "We should contact Paul and Janie and try to see them". His love for you all, and his community commitments were wonderful and admirable. We will call you in the morning.

My DeAndrew,Katie & Margaret:

I was in complete and utter shock to hear of Paul's passing by my parents . Although, we haven't been in touch in forever, I will ALWAYS remember him for his kindness and down to earth personality. I will also NEVER forget watching all of your children for you while the two of you snuck out for time together as adults.

I literally can't imagine the pain and heartache you and your whole family have gone through all these past months and prior to him passing.

I'm was very thankful to hear that you have wonderful grandchildfren that he had the opportunity to enjoy & adore!!! I myself NEVER EVER forget my Grammy after all of these years, my only hopes are that they are old enough to cherish his every monment with him!!!

May God Bless you all through these darkest and hardest times during this truly difficult time of year...

By the way, I still miss watching Andrew, Katie & Martha and will NEVER forget any of you!!!

Love Always,

Jane and family, I knew Paul from his association with Lutheran Manor of which I am past president of the Residents Association and now on site security. he was a great person and I know how deeply he cared for the residents here and the staff. I am just so happy he got to see the opening of our wellness center of which he had a great role in bringing to fruition. like the song says its not what you take with you that matters its what you leave behind you when you go. you left a great legacy Paul and here at Lutheran Manor your memory will be treasured always.
