Bruce Edward Barker, Sr., 67, of Emmaus, died Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown after battling cancer. He was a construction estimator with A.P. Houser in Emmaus for 45 years, during which time he developed a reputation for integrity and worked on numerous commercial and residential projects throughout the Lehigh Valley. But his greatest joy in life was his family. He was devoted to his wife of 45 years, Carol (Kondravy) Barker, whom he met while both were students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as well as to his four sons. He was an active parishioner at Saints Peter & Paul Church in Allentown. A native of Penn Hills, he also loved Pittsburgh and the Steelers. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Carol; sister, Kathleen Cefalo; son, Bruce Jr.; son, Jeremy, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Belani-Barker; son, Eric, daughter-in-law, Layne Powers Barker, and beloved granddaughter, Bridget Genevieve; and son, Evan, and Evan's fiancée, Laura Gallagher. Services: A viewing will be held from 6:30-8:30 PM Friday, January 8 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus. Another viewing will be held from 9-10 AM Saturday, January 9 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1065 Fullerton Ave., Allentown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions: Cancer Education and Research Fund, Lehigh Valley Health Network, P.O. Box 689, Allentown, PA 18105-1556.

Dear Barker Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I smile, thinking way back, when Mr. Barker would sit on the bleachers, watching and cheering us on while we played basketball at St. Ann's. Great memory. God Bless.

Stunned and saddened. I never expected to have to write this so soon, and I don't know what to say except that I'm heartbroken. I remember being jealous of Bruce Jr. back in high school for having such a cool dad. Bruce Sr. was a great guy with a wonderful family, who my heart goes out to and who are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Carol and Family,
Bruce was a dear friend and coworker of mine for 21 years. We shared many laughs together and I will always cherish those moments. His love for debates with his sons always made me smile. His friendship will be greatly missed.

With Love,
