On Tuesday February 2, 2021 Dr. Joseph Nader M.D. passed away in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. He passed away of natural causes, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and devoted caregivers. He was only a few weeks away from his 88th Birthday.

Dr. Nader was a Cardiologist and Internist who practiced medicine uninterrupted for over 50 years in the Lehigh Valley. Medicine was his life and passion and he was deeply committed to serving and caring for the people of his community, no matter their circumstances.

He was born a twin with two brothers and two sisters in a small town in Colombia to Lebanese immigrant parents. He attended the prestigious Javeriana University Medical School in Bogota, Colombia and went on to Philadelphia for advanced medical training at the University of Pennsylvania finishing his residency at Hahnemann University Medical Center.

He penned a book about his own struggles, sacrifices, and journey to become a doctor; the book is titled "The Price to be a Doctor" and was published in both English and Spanish. He was an active member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Heart Association.

He is survived in the US by his wife of 57 years, Agnes; his two sons, Joseph 54 and Edmond 53 along with his older sister Helen and Younger sister Nazira residing in Colombia.

A memorial and celebration of his life will be organized at a date when we all may be together again.

Dr. Nader was always kind and gentle when our paths crossed as he was caring for a patient or we were just walking by each other in the hospital hallway. Many patients were fortunate enough to call him their physician. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

It was an honor to "grow up" as a doctor with him as an elder in our wonderful little hospital.

Always meant to read his book. On it for real now.

Agnes, Joseph and Edmond,
May we all find comfort in knowing that you played a wonderful part in a beautiful well-lived life. Joe will be remembered for his kindness, his knowledge, his trait of always showing up when you needed him. Joe gave second chances in life to many of his friends and patients. We will remember him with grace and love because we are all just walking each other home. Love Maryann and Ortelio
