Lawrence Hamm Obituary
Lawrence Owen "Larry" Hamm, 73, of Nazareth, PA, formerly of Bangor, passed away Thursday, July 12th, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA. Lawrence was born in Bethlehem, PA on June 16, 1945, a son of the late James Albert and Katherine Belle (Hancock) Hamm. He was the husband of Susan J. (Bechtel) Toolan-Hamm. They celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary last November. Larry was a 1966 graduate of Bangor High School, where he was active in the high school band. He also attended Dale Carnegie School for Public Speaking. Larry was last employed as a clerk at Miller's Paint and Wallpaper Store in Bangor, PA, until retiring in 2013. Prior to that, Larry was employed at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. from 1966 until 2001. He also worked as a radio dispatcher for the former Blue Mtn. Control Center. Larry enjoyed bowling at the Blue Valley Lanes. Larry attended Calvary Baptist Church in Easton, PA, where he was active with the helping hands ministry. He was also a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge 311 F & A.M., the Roseto Rod and Gun Club, the Bangor Jacksonian Club, and the Blue Mtn. Pines Assoc. Larry was a former CPR instructor with the American Heart Assoc., a member of the former Liberty Ambulance Corp., and the former Bangor Yellow Jackets Drum and Bugle Corp. In addition to his wife, Susan, Larry is survived by three daughters, Michele Kay McKenzie, Bethann Duyssen, Jennifer Stacy Mack, a stepdaughter, Lynn A. Zerfass, a stepson, David R. Toolan, a sister, Kathleen Weider, two stepsisters, Ann Behers and Mary Capuano, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother Gary James Hamm. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 16th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA. Friends and family are invited to call 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Monday, July 16th at the funeral home. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery Bangor, PA.
