Raymond Bottazzi
Raymond Ray Bottazzi, 88 years of age, and longtime resident of Catasauqua, Whitehall Manor and Traditions of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013. Born in Northampton, MA to the late Carmine and Assunta (Pignatello) Bottazzi, he was the husband of Anna Mae (Hopkins) Bottazzi for 48 years at the time of her passing on May 1, 2003. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua. Ray proudly served in the US Army during WWII with the 12th Fighter Squadron in the South Pacific, and was honored with five Bronze stars for his bravery. He returned home and worked for Mack Truck for many years on the line and in the maintenance department of 5C until he retired. He was a life member of the former Italian Club of Allentown, the Charotin Fire Co., and the Belmont bowling and golf leagues. Survivors: Nieces, Rosemary B. Eibach and her husband Bill, and Judy Braniff; nephews, Michael Bottazzi and his wife Ellen, and Jerome Bottazzi; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Rose Bottazzi; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews; friend and caregiver, Nancy Riker; predeceased by brothers, Aldo and Alvin Tinker Bottazzi, and Joseph Bottazzi, as an infant. Services: Rev. Joyce W. Smothers will officiate at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, located one block south of the Fullerton Ave. exit of Route 22. His viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Whitehall. Contributions: Are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S.
