"> Stephen J. Knowles
Stephen J. Knowles, 51 of Bethlehem Township, lost his courageous battle to Leukemia on Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was the husband of Caroline (Nonnemacher) Knowles for 19 years and a loving father of two beautiful girls, Trista and Natasha at home. He was the son of John Knowles Sr. and the late Anna (Heuyter) Knowles. Brother of John Knowles Jr., long time best friend of Raymond Babio and his nieces and nephews. Stephen worked for One Source at Lehigh University for 14 years and he loved his dogs, racing, fishing and fixing cars. We would like to thank his doctors and nurses from the 6th floor and M.I.C.U. at St. Lukes Hospital in Fountain Hill. They treated him like one of their family members and he was known as the mascot of the 6th floor. Services: Private, online condolences at www.downingfuneralhome.com. Contributions: Please, NO flowers, contributions may be made to the family, checks payable to Downing Funeral Home, Inc., 1002 W. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.

To Jack & Caroline, daughters, & family: Our hearts are filled with sadness and also relief that such a good person is free from pain. We only knew Stevie briefly through Jack & Debbie and the Car Club. We remember him with a smile and a gentle quietness. He apparently touched many lives and they are now better for it. Please accept our deepest sympathy. May the comfort of family, friends, and our Lord help in giving you Peace.

Dear Caroline, Trista, Natasha, and John
We lived in a twin next door to Stevie when we were all kids and wanted to share this with you that hopefully will give you a smile. Stevie liked to play the drums. And through the thin walls of the twin, we could here him playing, especially on early Saturday mornings. We still joke to this day how my sisters would stomp their feet against the wall to try to stop his renditions. I would go over to see him play and whoever let me in would have to flick the light on and off in the room to get his attention because he couldn't hear us over his playing. He was part of the reason I took up playing the drums.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

RIP stevie

If you didn't know stevie, you were missing out on a very strong ambitous young man. He was full of life, and never let his sickness get in the way of what he loved to do.

Steve came to our family a lost young man with no direction. He was looking for a place to call home and a family to call his. We welcomed him with open and loving arms, he snuggled in. Steve blossomed in this big boisterous family of ours. He became a loving Husband, great Father and a terrific friend to all of us. He enjoyed helping out on all of our household projects whether it was installing a kitchen or chopping wood, Steve was on hand to assist. Most of all he loved the family gatherings. If it involved family and food Steve was happy. When Steve was attacked by Cancer he treated it like any other obstacle in his life, head on. He always wore a smile and when I would ask him how he felt he always respond with, "I'm here and that's all that matters". Because being apart of our family was so importqant to him. Steve passed away quietly with his loving family snuggled around him. That would have made him happy!

To my husband: You were the love of my life. We were always supposed to be together however someone had other plans for you. I love you so much and always will. You were not only a loving husband but you were also a terrific father and also my best friend. My world revolved around you. You will always be in my heart and soul I will miss you terribly. I know now you can stop feeling the pain and will no longer be tired. You put on a front so we couldn't see your pain and you are the bravest person I will ever know. One day we will be together again and we will never have to leave each other anymore. Until we meet again. I love you always.

My Dad was one of the most important people in my life. I looked up to him in so many ways. When we were told the horrible news that he had cancer, it was like my heart just smashed into a million pieces. He had his bad times and he had his good. More good then bad thankfully. He kept right on fighting for my mom, my sister, and I. He wanted to see us grow. get married and have kids. Although he has passed we know in our hearts that he will still be there to see all of those moments. I miss him so much, but I know that he isn't suffering no more and thats all that counts. I would like to thank everyone that was there for him. It meant a lot to him and to our family. To girls on the 6th Floor im sure he will still come visit you, like he did on so many other occasions. i love you dad and you will forever be with me in my heart.
