Linda, Jackie & Family ....
While talking with Lance B. today, he mentioned Paul's death, and it was the first I had heard of it. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Lots of good memories of Paul and his great sense of humor. He will not be forgotten by so many friends he made during his lifetime. I've been gone from Lutron for many years, but I've never forgotten those who co-workers who deserved a great deal of respect. Paul was one of those people.

Linda,JacKie and Paulie
My deepests condolences.
Im having a tough time getting over this.
Paul was much more than an uncle, he was more like a great friend.
I remember fondly the days of my youth fishing with him at Lake Wallenpaupack, our boat caught the most fish! I caught my first Muskie when Paul took me to that "new lake" called Beltsville.
We had some awesome wiffle ball games at the grandparents house in Hokey.
As I grew older Paul was a great teacher. I learned many things professionally and recreationaly. I always enjoyed the times on the golf course, whether Myrtle Beach or Wedgewood, it was always a blast. Hell, the man taught me how to play a mean game of poker!
I will miss the man greatly, it is a shame the great ones go way too soon.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I remember when I first met Paul 25 years ago when I was first starting in the industry. I had drawn a cartoon about Lutron and sent it to my local rep. About a month later I was introduced to Paul, a senior executive and influential man in the industry. Although I may have been nervous to meet him imagine my surprise when Paul greeted me and told me he had a good laugh at my cartoon.
Since them I had been fortunate to work with Paul on many projects and committees. He will be missed by all.

My thoughts and empathy are with Paul's family as well as his extended professional family at Lutron. I will miss Paul so much. At any professional gathering Paul was one to whom everyone gravitated. Not only was he supremely knowledgeable, but he greeted everyone with an enthusiastic smile and a personal remembrance. When one of my daughters had a restaurant in eastern Europe, he went to great lengths to explore the possibility of exporting his favorite Tequila to her. He had a keen interest in gems from his travels and was fond of a ring of mine. When ever we met, he always looked to see if I was wearing it. Small personal things that demonstrated that he was sincerely interested in everyone. He was the embodiment of Lutron character and integrity. He will be so missed by so many.

Dear Mrs. Trively,
I want to extend my deepest condolences to you and your family.
Paul was one of the first people I met in the lighting industry when I started my lighting career in Ecuador. It was amazing how much he enjoyed working with the Latin American folks. I have very fond memories of him from those days.
When I moved to the US and started working as a lighting designer in Chicago it was a pleasure to continue working with him. He has definitely been a great member of the international lighting industry, and he will be greatly missed.

DEAR LINDA AND FAMILY
MR. GERMAN BERRIO CALLE ME FRIDAY MORNING TO GIVE ME THIS VERY VERY SAD NEWS………………
AT FIRST I WAS TRULY WITHOUT WORDS ………………….AND I NEEDED A FEW DAYS TO KNOW REALLY WHAT KIND OF LETTER I SHOULD WRIGHT TO YOU AND THE LUTRON FAMILY.
PAUL TRIVELY STARTED ME IN THE LUTRON BUSINESS IN THE VERY EARLY NINETIES, 1992 IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.
AND FOR ALMOST 7 CONSECUTIVES YEARS, PAUL TRAVELED TO COLOMBIA TO SUPPORT OUR BUSINESS AND TO TRAIN US IN PRODUCTS AND LIGHTING CONTROL.
WHEN HE STAYED OVER WEEKENDS, I HAD TO PICK HIM UP AT THE HOTEL AT 5.30 AM SO WE WOULD BE ABLE TO ARRIVE AT THE GOLF COURSE BEFORE EVEN THE SUN HAS RISEN.
WE PLAYED ON ONE DAY THE ASTONISHING AMOUNT OF 63 HOLES (UNTIL TODAY MY PERSONAL RECORD), PLAYING THE LAST NINE HOLES ONLY WITH 3 CLUBS, GREAT TIMES WHICH I WILL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE………………
EVEN IN THE LAST YEARS WHEN HE WAS NOT IN CHARGED OF OUR PART OF THE WORLD AND I WOULD TRAVEL TO LUTRON, HE ALWAYS TOOK TIME TO MEET ME, AND TO HAVE LUNCH OR DINNER WITH ME.
THERE IS SO MUCH PAUL HAS DONE FOR ME, THAT I DON’T EVEN WANT TO START NUMBERING THEM.
HE WAS A VERY VERY SPECIAL PERSON TO ME, AND I GUARANTEE YOU LINDA, THAT I ALWAYS WILL REMEMBER HIM.
I WILL SAY KADISH FOR HIM, WHICH IS OUR WAY TO HONOR A PERSON WHO IS NOT LONGER WITH US.

I, like so many others, will miss Paul greatly.

Dear Linda & Family:
I cannot begin to tell you how saddened I was to hear of Paul's passing and of your loss. My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Paul was a friend, mentor, confidant, leader, fellow lighting control geek (said with the utmost respect), but most of all a truly superb person. Always cheerful, always looking forward for the best solution or improvement, whether that be a customer issue, a technical engineering issue, or on his golf swing. Paul made the long hours fun and to this day, I could (and did frequently) turn to him for advice, his counsel and wisdom. Paul did it right. Always.
Paul's impact in the industry is legendary; but what counts most is his impact as a person, and I can think of no finer human being that I have had the privilege and the honor of knowing and serving side by side with at Lutron. His wit and charm and simply awesome life-event stories will be missed greatly. Just on those merits alone, I know he is in a better place and at peace.
Respectfully and with all sympathy,
Brendon VanCampen & Family

To me, Paul was a better person than he was a golfer, and he was an excellent golfer. I know he is sitting in the clubhouse waiting for us all to finish our rounds and when we get there he'll be there with a bright smile and a funny story. That's just Paul. Always a little ahead of the rest of us.

To the Trively family,
I was deeply saddened upon hearing the news of Paul’s passing. I have had the pleasure of working with Paul for close to fifteen years. Paul has always been and will remain one of the kindest men I have ever worked with. Although his seniority within our organization could have given him simple reason to separate himself from new hires – Paul always made himself available to us. He provided individual mentoring and professional development, as well as personal guidance and strength. His great knowledge, vast experience, grace, humor, and humble character have touched us all and will continue within each of us in our personal and professional lives. He will be truly missed.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I am so deeply saddened with the loss of Paul. He was a very tremendously wonderful warm-hearted person. I will never forget his care and concern with the sickness and loss of our Dad and with Mom's illnesses. He always made a point to inquire how my family and I were doing, and to see how he could help.

In the very short time I met Paul, I can truly say, as an understatement, that he left an impact on me. This was a rush-in mini course he gave us (a small group from Panama) on July 2007, but I can still remember the kindness and wisdom in his words and the way he transmitted knowledge,... as someone who really cared about people and the environment.
He will be missed. My condolences to family and friends.

Dear Trively Family,
Paul, Terri Plusar, Barb Queen and myself started working at Lutron in 1968 and we all became good friends. No matter what the Lutron function was you could always find Paul and Linda there ready with a handshake and a smile. Paul was always smiling and it seemed nothing got him upset. Paul was the center of attention when he was telling us stories of his travels and the things that happened to him. Paul was always laughing and kept us laughing. The last time Terri and I saw Paul, he told us that Lutron was sending all the 40 year service people on vacation to Hawaii, we all laughed and ribbed Nick Maiale, this broke the tension as we were standing in line at Jay Baumer's funeral. That's how Paul was, he knew how to handle tense situations. I will with all my heart miss Paul and his laugh.
Please dear family accept my heart felt condolences and know that Paul will always be in our memories and will never be forgotten.

It is with a great deal of sadness when I received the information regarding Paul's passing. We have known each other in excess of 25 years which began through our business relationship. Paul was a real gentleman and a professional in his business affairs. He will be fondly remembered for the enjoyment we shared on the golf course or playing poker at the Lutron sales meetings or out making specification sales calls together. My sincerest condolences to Linda and the Trively family for your loss. You are in my prayers during this most difficult time.

I have known Paul since I was fortunate enought to be awarded the Lutron line as a representative in 1983. I have always thought of Paul as a very genuine, honest person and using him as a model, he has made my life better. We here at DMA will miss him and our prayers are with his family.
Sincerely,
Bob Willardsen

Dear Linda and Family,
Paul was a great man and a great teacher. He traveled with me early on in my career at Lutron and taught me the correct way to specify Lutron. He was respected throughout our industry. I'll never forget him.
Our prayers are with you.

Paul was just in town with us a little over a week ago, and I once again marveled at the way he could connect with so many different types of people. His dedication to his work and unique insights helped us all to look at the world from a new perspective. He certainly stimulated many minds and, although he will be missed, his legacy will live on in the people he touched and taught.

I had the privilege of being interviewed by Paul to work at Lutron. He impressed upon me a standard of professionalism and class that was an influential factor in choosing to work for our organization. He was truly an ambassador for the company and the lighting industry, and will be missed by many.

To the Trively Family,
I have known Paul for close to thirty years. He was one of my favorites in the lighting industry. Bright, hard working, involved, kind, measured and fair are just a few of the words that come to mind. He was always a big help and friend to my office.
Personally, I will always be grateful to Paul because he helped me get Lutron involved at the Center for Architecture in NYC. He was an early supporter of the Center and his vision and contributions both personally and through Lutron have made it the heart of the NY architecture community that it is today.
It was one of the pleasures of Lightfair for me to go to through the Lutron booth with Paul. He always had time for me and I would always wait for him so he could show me what was new.
Most of all Paul was a gentleman; a term I do not use indiscriminately nor one that I find I am able to use too often these days. I will miss him.
May friends and family and wonderful memories of a great man comfort you during this difficult time.

Linda and Family-
Karen and I were deeply saddened by the news of Paul’s passing. We both have many fond memories of Paul. I am especially thankful to Paul for the opportunity to work in Latin America. Although we only worked together for a short period of time, I was constantly reminded by his friends and colleagues throughout the region of what an inspiration he was – not only in business, but to them personally. You have our deepest sympathies.

I am saddened by the loss of my friend Paul. We would pull away and talk about coins and kids (occassionally lighting and dimming as well) when we had a chance to see each other or over some wine if he were here at times. He handled the day to day trials with a grace and kindness each of us can only hope to emulate. I will miss him a great deal.
