John R. Bell
John R. Bob Bell, 75, of New Tripoli, went to be with our Lord Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Ruth Shaufner Bell. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 19. Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, August 13, 1937, Bob was the son of the late Robert W. and Ellen M. (Miller) Bell. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during a peacetime era. Bob was an assistant vice-president at Meridian Bank in Allentown (now Wells Fargo). He retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. Bob was a charter member and past president of Blue Spruce Riding Club, Alburtis. He was an elder of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, where he sang in the choir, and served as past Consistory President. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Ruth; sons, Michael R. Bell and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Thomas, Emily, and Matthew of New Tripoli, Mark E. Bell and his wife, Elisa C. Schuetz, M.D. and their children, Andrew and Ada of Bristol, Tennessee; brother, James E. Bell and his wife, June, of North Port, Florida; predeceased in death by a sister, Janet Comstock. Services: Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Ebenezer U.C.C., 7293 Decatur Street, New Tripoli, with the Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the church. Interment will follow the service in the adjacent parish cemetery. A fellowship meal will then be offered.
