Charles Alvin Robinson

Charles Robinson, 88, of Chowchilla, died on May 7, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Pasadena, CA Charles came to Chowchilla with his family in 1939. A veteran, he proudly served his country in the US Army while stationed in Japan. In 1951, Charles married Evelyn Borba and they raised their two children, Cheryl and Frankie.
He worked as an auto mechanic for nearly 30 yrs at Mc Donell Bros in Chowchilla and also worked at Anderson Clayton where he retired in 1998.
A quiet and hard-working man, you could usually find Charles riding his bike, having breakfast with friends at Mc Donalds, working in his yard, and spending time with family.
He enjoyed bowling, hiking, an cheering on his Fresno State Bulldog teams, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and the Oakland A's. He also loved trips to Yosemite and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 yrs, Evelyn Robinson; his brother, Jimmy Robinson; and parents, Frank & Ena Robinson.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Tyrone) Brice; a son, Frank Robinson; and grandson Michael Tripp all of Chowchilla; brother, Marvin Robinson of Chowchilla; sister, Carole Laverty of Clovis; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was at Sterling and Smith Funeral Home in Fresno CA
A graveside service with his family will be held in Chowchilla where his ashes will be laid to rest in his wife's plot at a future date.
