Edward "Ed" Matasci
Dec. 18, 1933 - Mar. 01, 2018
Edward "Ed" Matasci of Atwater, California, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 1, 2018 at age 84 in Fresno, California. Born December 18, 1933 to William and Martha Matasci, he graduated from Livingston High School in 1952, married his High School Sweetheart Mary Aveiro in 1954, and together they raised two wonderful children, Laura and Mark. Ed was a proud Army veteran with service in Germany operating tanks. During his career, he worked as a mechanic, farmer, and owner of various businesses. Eddie cherished his role as grandpa to his three grandchildren. He enjoyed collecting; especially old die cast cars, signs and older memorabilia, and could often be found rummaging local flea markets or the next big yard sale. He was a lifelong fan of the Oakland Raiders, even through the rough years. Eddie is preceded in death by his father William, mother Martha and brother Donald. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Aveiro) Matasci of Atwater, daughter Laura (Matasci) Harland and son-in-law Michael Harland of Newman, son Mark Matasci of Atwater, sister Jenny (Matasci) Sampson of Sacramento, his three grandkids, Edward, Traci (Jarami), Travis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed's Family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Fresno VA Hospital ICU ward; you were all so very compassionate and caring. Visitation will be held on March 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Services will be at 12:00 p.m. at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel 1290 Winton Way Atwater, CA. followed by the burial at Winton District Cemetery 7651 W Almond Ave. Winton, CA.
