Gloria Rita Wiltsee
January 4, 1926 - May 17, 2018
Gloria was born in Mineola, on Long Island, N.Y. to parents Henry and Estelle Wesnofske. Her family owned a successful business, which is where Gloria acquired her determined and enthusiastic work ethic and zest for life. As a young woman, Gloria and a friend spontaneously jumped into her convertible and moved to Los Angeles. She loved every minute of her exciting life, dating and going to trendy places in Hollywood that were frequented by many movie stars and celebrities. Later, Gloria married and had two sons, Scott and Steve. She divorced when the boys were young and raised them as a devoted single mother. She worked at the Los Angeles County Zoo and said many times it was the best job she ever had. She would entertain her family and friends with stories about the exotic creatures she encountered, and still has long-time friends from this era in her life. Later, she moved to Merced to be closer to family. She continued her management career working for Merced County until her retirement in 2001, and then moved to Sacramento. Gloria was active in the Red Hat Society and Art classes where she had many special friends. Gloria was an exceptional artist, and produced many lovely watercolors. She was also a member of her neighborhood "Out to Lunch Bunch". Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Estelle, her brothers Bob and Henry, sister Marie and son Steven. She is survived by her son, Scott, and many family members in New York and Florida. Gloria was intelligent with a marvelous sense of humor, and was an attractive, energetic and elegant lady. She will be terribly missed by all who loved her and will live on in their memories. She requested no formal services be held.
