Jennie Meraz Rodriguez
May 16, 1932 - January 21, 2018
Jennie was born in Brawley, CA on May 16, 1932 to Marcial Meraz and Tilly DeLeon Meraz. She was the oldest of six children. She spent the early years of her life in Southern California where she met Paul Ramirez Rodriguez, her husband of 55 years. They moved to Atwater in 1968 and have resided there since.
Jennie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a strong, determined and generous woman with many friends. She was always willing and happy to help others in whatever was needed. Jennie also had many passions such as singing, gardening, flowers, sewing, crocheting and children. She loved to sing and had a beautiful gift for it. She planted and tended to more than one hundred roses at her home. She made countless quilts for family, friends and baby showers. She also donated hundreds of crocheted hats to needy babies and cancer patients. Jennie is survived by her husband Paul; son, Larry Meraz; daughter and son-in law, Jackie and Robert Mendez; daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Mike Maul; daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Evan Weiss; daughter, Michelle Rodriguez. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She left this earth on January 21, 2018 to be with the God she worshipped and her loved ones that preceded her in death. She was a loving, caring wife and mother. Her love, smile, generosity and sense of humor will be missed deeply by her family and all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held in May.
