Joe Martinez Ram
November 20, 1929 - February 21, 2018
Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend Joe Martinez Ram completed his earthly journey and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Joe was born on November 20, 1929 in Calipatria, California. He had an eventful, lively childhood before enlisting in the Navy. After his time in the Navy, he spent many years working in agriculture and having adventures all across the U.S. before returning to California. In Sacramento, he met Bernadette Cook, his surviving spouse. In 1982, his youngest daughter, Martina was born. After her birth, he relocated with his new family to Merced, California. He created many wonderful memories with his family and friends which will never be forgotten.
Joe cherished all of the time he spent with his loved ones. He also had many hobbies which included gunsmithing, auto mechanics, hunting, fishing, and watching the evening news without fail. He enjoyed attending gun shows with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor which brought smiles and chuckles to those around him and will be very much missed. He was a steadfast and wonderful father and husband.
Joe is survived by his wife Bernadette of Merced, his daughter Martina (also of Merced), his brother Raymond of Dos Palos, sister-in-law Hortencia of Dos Palos, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him and cherish the memories they have of him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merced. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM, also at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Joe will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Merced following the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitton Family Funeral Service.
