Mary Antionette "Toni" Doyle Gaestel

Sept 29, 1925-May 5, 2018
Toni was born in Los Angeles, CA on September 29, 1925 and passed peacefully in Issaquah, WA on May 5, 2018.
Toni was blessed with a very full and happy life. In 1948 while attending UCLA she was crowned California's Miss Centennial. During her tour of the State she stopped in Merced, where she met Joe Gaestel, the love of her life. They married on December 4, 1948. They were both very active in the Merced community, enjoyed boating, skiing, travels in their motorhome and the world abroad.
The love for their children, Joe and Teresa was absolute. "Nan" & "Da" also enjoyed countless hours of fun with their grandkids, Joseph, Jorden, Justin and Sarah.
Toni loved to golf and made many lifelong friends with the ladies at the Merced Golf and Country Club. Always a singer, she loved the annual Follies and the productions at Playhouse Merced.
Her time as Nan, with her grandkids, brought her the greatest joy – watching them grow into 4 very wonderful, very special adults. She loved them dearly.
Toni was predeceased by Joe, her parents, Bess & Isaac "Babe" Doyle, her brothers Don and Jim Doyle.
She is survived by her son, Joe & Susan Gaestel of Merced - her daughter Teresa & Bob Marshall of Maple Valley, WA - her 4 grandkids – her 2 great grand-daughters, Audrey & Charlotte – her 2 great-grand sons, Steve & Gabe. Her brother-in-law Rob & Bette Gaestel. Plus, many beloved Doyle and Gaestel nephews and nieces.
A special thanks to University House and VIP Services for their kind, loving support. A huge thanks to Aegis Living of Issaquah, Evergreen Hospice and to Teresa & Bob for seeing her through her final days with dignity, compassion and love.
All are invited to attend services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (671 E. Yosemite) on Thursday, May 24th - rosary at 9:30am – mass at 10:00am. A celebration of life will be held at the Merced Elks Lodge (1910 M Street) immediately following the church services.
