Tommy J. Sevedge
April 8, 1943 - February 4, 2018
Tommy Sevedge was born in French Camp, CA on April 8, 1943 to Thomas and Wanda Sevedge, and peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, February 4, 2018, surrounded by family.
After graduating from High School in Manteca, Tom went to college to become a surveyor and joined the Operating Engineers. In his 50 years with the Operating Engineers, Tom was an integral part of many notable projects such as the construction of BART, Don Pedro dam, Exchequer dam, Melones dam, the 5-mile tunnel connecting the San Luis Reservoir to the Santa Clara Valley at Pacheco Pass, a 9-mile hydro-electric tunnel in the Sierras, and the Sonora bypass.
He was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Merced since 1985, where he was a passionate supporter of Bible Quizzing. Tom's unique knowledge of California terrain and love for people made him an excellent unofficial tour guide that usually led off the beaten path. He invested in others by organizing countless double dates, numerous hunting trips, and hosting his world-famous fellowships!
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Phyllis Gillette, Jimmy Sevedge, Geraldine Vickerman, and grandson Jordan Austin. He is survived by his wife Jeneen Sevedge, his son Tommy Sevedge, daughter Peggy Sevedge, stepchildren Mark and Rock Bowden, and Jennifer Austin; his grandchildren: Tyler and Savannah Sevedge, Chris Holly and Marissa Bowden, Jason, Justin, Joshua Austin; and great-grandchildren: Colton, Carson, Knox, Jacob, Hayden, Brenton, Preston, Aubrianna, Avanleigh, Adelaide, Zayne, and Adelina.
Visitation and viewing for Tommy will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Merced, 2745 E. Hwy 140, Merced, CA, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Snelling Cemetery.
