Walt was easily one of my favorite people in Merced. We met him and his wife at Manlys donuts with my grandpa Saturday mornings. After his wife passed we got to know him better. His war and flying story’s were a joy to hear. My family and I will miss running into him around Merced (especially during normal times). I send his family all my love and sympathy in his passing. At 96, he has lived such a full life and I hope he is at rest with his adorable wife.

Walter served on the City Planning Commission for 8 years. As a planning staff member, I got to know Walter well. He was the consumate gentleman, a thoughtful decision maker, and a true war hero. He will be sorely missed by a grateful community.
