Robert Levi Roat, 96, died August 14, 2013 at Casa De Santa Fe in Rocklin, California.
Bob was born in Flint, MI on April 21, 1917, the son of Jesse and Kate Roat. He attended Michigan State where he met his wife Lee. He was a Lieutenant in the Navy from 6/21/43 to 5/27/46. He served on the USS Prentiss and USS Rehoboth in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, receiving a ribbon and Bronze Star and in the American Theater receiving a Victory Medal. Once out of the Navy, he worked for 40+ years as an advertising executive for J Walter Thompson in Detroit, Denver and then in San Francisco. He was passionate about his careers in both the Navy and in advertising.
Bob is survived by his wife Lee, daughters Robin and Kyle, sons Jess and Tobin, grandchildren Kye, Ladd, Haley, Brandin, Jenna, Tobias and Katelyn, and great grandchildren Bodie, Tanner, Drake and Sophie. He was especially close to his nieces Karen and Pat and nephew Jack Lee. He was preceded in death by his five older sisters, Marguerite, Geraldine, Katharine, Eleanor and Betty.
Bob loved life, was always optimistic and ready to offer a helping hand. He was fun loving, funny, creative, supportive, generous, kind-hearted and loved his children and wife of seventy years. He is loved dearly by his friends and family and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church in Napa on September 28th, 2013 at noon, 1333 3rd Street, Napa, CA 94559.
