Edward (Pop-Pop) Kraft
Aug. 4, 1923-Sept. 7, 2013
Resident of West San Jose
While sleeping peacefully, Ed passed away on Saturday at the age of 90. His last words were "Give me my bus ticket!" He longed to be with his loving wife, Martha of 54 years, who passed away in May 1999.
Ed enjoyed living in West San Jose in the home he purchased on his GI bill in February 1967. He raised six amazing children and enjoyed being with his 18 grandkids, 29 great-grandkids, and 4 great-great grandkids.
He proudly enlisted in the Navy at age 17 in Washington D.C. after three attempts because he was considered too small. "Shorty" served as an aviation machinist mate. Ed and Martha met at a Navy dance and married on Jan. 28, 1945 in Glen Echo, Maryland. He worked as an aviation mechanic for United Airlines and transferred to the maintenance operation center in San Francisco. He was promoted to inspector and was a dedicated employee for 38 years. He chose to commute because he loved looking at the Santa Cruz Mountains.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed trips to Yosemite, Hawaii, and visiting grandkids. When renal kidney failure ended his travels in 2003, he remained optimistic with the support of the Satellite Dialysis Center in Cupertino. His loving son, Dan, cared for him until his last breath. Oscar and Felix (The Odd Couple) were inseparable.
The Kraft family, Jeanne Kraft Snapp, Ed Kraft Jr., Gail Kraft Cregeen, Dan Kraft, Debbie Kraft Tyree, and Judy Kraft Levy invite family and friends to celebrate Ed's long happy life on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 10:30 am at Los Gatos Memorial Park located at 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road in San Jose. Graveside burial with military honors will follow.
Viewing at Campbell Memorial Chapel located 231 E. Campbell Ave., Campbell, CA in care of Darling*Fisher will be Saturday evening, Sept. 14 from 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
Donations are requested for Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave. San Jose, CA 95124 so other families may receive the love and care they deserve.

Uncle Eddie, I loved the stories that my grandpa would tell about you and his other siblings. I am sorry that the only time that I remember meeting you was at his funeral. I know that you will be missed by many. Give my grandpa my love. Kelly (granddaughter of Rainbow)

Danny, Judy and Kraft family,
I met your dad in April of 2005 on my first day of work at the dialysis center...he was like the mayor of the clinic. His smile and happy spirit brought smiles to the rest of the place. I have always said that Ed ALWAYS woke up on the right side of the bed. I will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Grandpa, even though we lived 3000 miles apart you had a big impact on my life. Always setting a good example and living a good life. You taught me how to make the perfect poached eggs and to enjoy the simple things in life. I love you grandpa. Give grandma a hug and kiss for me. Tammy

As a young child I will always cherish the gatherings at Thanksgiving and camping on the farm at Mom and Dad's. The Kraft Family and the Athey Family were so very close. Uncle Tootie said his good-bye to my mom (his baby sister) and now he is joining her in heaven. Rest in peace Uncle Tootie, you are so loved. Love, Ginger
