Pearl Chen Obituary

Pearl Kong Chen
Jun. 17, 1926 - Jul. 21, 2014
San Jose CA & Hong Kong
Pearl Kong Chen left this world on July 21, 2014 in Hong Kong. She had been a resident of San Jose since 1967, and for 35 years had been splitting her residence between San Jose and Hong Kong, where her husband, Prof. Tien Chi Chen, had been teaching.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, daughter Mrs. Sharon Lee, son-in-law Bob Lee, two grand children and their spouses, and four great-grand children.
Pearl championed, and had authored 40+ highly popular books on Chinese cuisine, which are famed for literary content and fool-proof step-by-step instructions which bring satisfaction and even pleasant surprise to followers.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose on Aug. 23 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society in memory of Pearl Kong Chen.

I treasure the memories when Pearl Chen, the leader, offered to teach classes for Chinese Cuisine cooking through Metropolitan Adult Education in the 1970s.
Others followed her example to provide all cultural experiences for eager adults in the San Jose area. I saw her last in 1991 and I will never forget her.
