Eugene Ravizza Obituary

Eugene Albert Ravizza
Resident of Los Altos
Gene passed from this life on October 2, 2019. Born on July 21, 1928 to Albert and Georgia Ravizza. He was raised in Sunnyvale with his sister Aline (deceased) and brother Armand. He was a loving husband to his wife, Dianne Schott Ravizza (deceased), a loving father to his children, Claranne Long (Tim), Mark Ravizza S.J. and Greg Ravizza (Kathleen), cherished grandfather to Jenna Johnson (Jereb), Matt Long, Chris Long, Elena Ravizza, Luke Ravizza and his great-grandchildren Ellie, Wesley and Berkeley Johnson. After raising their family in Saratoga, Gene and Dianne relocated to Los Altos. In the years after Dianne's passing Gene resided at the Forum in Cupertino where he enjoyed the company of many good friends.
As a child Gene learned the value of hard work helping his parents at their ranch on Wolfe Rd. He attended Fremont High School and Santa Clara University, graduating as an electrical engineer with the class of 1950. Following work abroad building U.S. airbases in Morocco in fulfillment of his ROTC service requirement, Gene returned home and began a career as an electrical contractor. Working with his partners, he built Cupertino Electric Inc. Founded upon integrity, customer satisfaction and mutual respect for all in the work place, CEI grew with Silicon Valley and continues to thrive; Gene served as a valued advisor until his final days.
Guided by his faith, Gene actively supported numerous charitable causes, including Santa Clara University, Saint Francis High School in Mountain View and Hope Rehabilitation Services. He was a long-time active member of the Serra Club, which worked to encourage vocations to the Catholic Church, and the Knights of Malta, an organization dedicated to providing humanitarian and medical assistance to those in need. After retirement he also enjoyed volunteering at Martha's Kitchen where he would help serve meals to the hungry.
There will be a vigil held at Saint Simon Catholic Church, 1860 Grant Road, Los Altos, on Monday, October 7 at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Mission Santa Clara, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, on Tuesday, October 8 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions in Gene's name may be sent to: Saint Francis High School "Dianne Ravizza Scholarship Fund" (1885 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View, CA 94040), Martha's Kitchen (311 Willow St., San Jose, CA 95110, www.marthas-kitchen.org), or the Santa Clara University School of Engineering "Dean's Engineering Excellence Fund."

They don't make men like Gene Ravizza anymore. His integrity, kindness, humility, generosity and compassion were legendary. All his kids share the same high moral standards of Gene and Dianne. The world is a better place because of this family.

I think Gene had the most integrity of any man I have ever met. The respect for him runs wide and far. An amazing humble man, always putting others first. Im sure he is happy in heaven, with his lovely wife Dianne and sharing funny stories for eternity. The world was left a much better place because of this one gracious gracious man, who instilled the same kindness, generosity, humility and high morals to all of his children. Hod Bless You Always Gene Ravizza. Well done good and faithful servant.

My heart goes out to all of you at this difficult time. Both Gene and Diane were great friends to my mom and dad from as early as I can remember . I remember the bridge games and dinner parties. I loved seeing them all laugh together and how much they enjoyed coming over here to the beach. I would love seeing Gene strolling the beaches in Aptos. Diane was always the best of friend to my mom. I am sending prayers and love to you all especially Claranne Mark and Greg.

My remembrances of Gene from the early 1950's

My parents, Lou and Cora Ravizza remained close friends with Gene's parents for many years. Therefore we had many family visits back and forth between Berkeley and Sunnyvale.

I remember admiring his new 1955? Oldsmobile parked in the driveway off of Wolfe Road.

I remember visiting his first business office (CEI?) along with his brother Armand near the intersection of Stevens Creek and Highway 9.

I remember checking out the electrical engineering gadgets he stored in in his parent's garage.

Thanks,

Ray Ravizza

Gene was a community leader and dear friend to my mother Norma Ann (Doane) Mitchell. It was my mother who introduced Gene to Diane, and mom remained friends with them both for many many years to come. I can speak for all the Mitchell children when I say that both Gene and Diane had a profound impact on our family. They were both the pillars of integrity, kindness, generosity and being true Christians in all they do. Their friendship to my mother throughout the years sustained her in tough times, and she in turn, made them laugh. Gene was such a modest, humble man despite all his accomplishment, he was so kind and understated. The strength of his character and unwavering integrity spoke volumes to those around him. When he walked in the room, he didn't need to say a word. His presence and what he stood for said it all. I am so, so grateful for his friendship to my mother, and to my twin sister, which he really was an adopted father figure to her. His was steadfast in kindness, faith, character wisdom, truth, kindness and humility. His children Claranne Mark and Greg follow in his footsteps of honesty and integrity and above all, putting others first. The world has lost a very great man. Go in Peace Humble Servant, Great is your reward. Thank you Gene for being such an example to so many. You will be sorely missed. The ripple effect of your life goes much farther than you will ever image.
Love, Carey Mitchell

I knew Gene from a business relationship and it is so very rare to find a business owner that had the integrity and sense of fairness that Gene had. This was well known throughout our organization where he was so well-respected. My sincere condolences to his family.
