Donald Frederick Towse

San Jose resident Don Towse died April 16, 2006, while snorkeling off the San Blas Islands, Panama. Born Dec. 1924 in Somerville, MA, he was a San Jose resident since 1960. A Ph.D. geologist (MIT) with a world-spanning career with Kaiser and the Lawrence Livermore National Lab he was also actively involved with Civil Air Patrol for 45 years and with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. As was his spirit, Don tandem-jumped at 10,000 feet "from a perfectly good airplane" to celebrate his 80th birthday in 2004.
He will be dearly missed by Marjorie (Jerry), his wife of sixty-one years, and surviving children, Lincoln (Joy) Towse, Robin Towse, and Sally Towse (Burt Kendall). Three children, Donald, Jr. (Skip), Diana, and Casey, died as adults. Grandpa to Angus Towse, Joseph Schoech, Anne Kendall, James Kendall, Sam Kendall, Elisabeth Barnick, Kendall Shelffo, Kiara Towse, and Amelia Towse, Don is survived his twin brother Dan (Marian), and his younger brothers Bob, Dick (Karyl), and Jack.
