Edward Gregory Margherone
March 26, 1930 - March 23/2021
Resident of San Jose
Ed (Gregory) Margherone of San Jose died peacefully Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 after a brief illness. Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Susan, and 6 children, Tina, Frank (DeAnn), Gina, Donnie (Semadawn), Randy, & Jeannie (Ted), while joining their daughter Jackie in heaven. Ed also leaves behind 12 grandchildren (Christine, Maria, Anthony, Leah, Evan, Joshua, Diamond, Connor, Charlie, Nathan, Jen, Kaleigh), four great-grandchildren (Jace, Jackson, Dominic, Jaxon), and one niece (Mary).
Predeceased by his parents, Francesco Margherone and Concetta (Selvaggi) Margherone, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Benedetto (Benny) Margherone and Sadie (Murabito) Margherone.
Originally from Chicago IL, born in 1930, Ed would have turned 91 on March 26th. He was known by the community for having the gift of gab, engaging anyone he came upon in deep conversation about his passions for football (Chicago Bears), baseball (Chicago Cubs), politics ("What recession?"), humorous jokes, card games, and more. He especially loved young children whom he would play Peek-a-Boo with at any opportunity.
Ed was a patriotic American (with Sicilian roots) who cherished family values. This started at the age of 12 when his mother and Ed selflessly cared for his father at home for 15 years after suffering a series of strokes.
Those who knew Ed would be aware of his compulsion to keep accurate lists, arrive ahead of time, and always keep his commitments. These traits served Ed well in his 34-year career at General Electric following his time at Lockheed and Pioneer. At G.E., Ed's dedication to detail was recognized by the coveted annual G.E. Quality Performance Program Award. When listening to Ed reminisce, it was clear that he dearly missed his time and relationships at G.E.
