Esther M. Leyva Obituary
Esther M. Leyva
Dec. 19, 1934 - June 1, 2018
Resident of Modesto
Esther passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born one of six children to Luis and Pantaleona (Molina) Leyba in Artesia, NM. In 1958 she later moved to San Jose. She was employed by Becton Dickinson for 32 years as a lead supervisor.
She was an exceptional mother and role model. She shined the brightest in her passion for cooking. She showed her love in her homemade tortillas, salsa and enchiladas. She loved sweets, ice cream made everything better, and she never met a donut she didn't like. She will be remembered as a kind, strong, hardworking woman, devote in her faith, she raised her five children on her own, had a generous spirit and would iron a wrinkle out of anything.
She is survived by her five children, Volanda (Albert) Candelaria, Alfred (Elaine) Castillo, Lesa Castillo (Armida Villarreal), Arcy Castillo (Martina Castro) and Gilbert (Priscilla) Castillo. Loving grandmother to 8, devoted sister to five, adored great grandmother to 10, and aunt to many.
All are welcome to a visitation on Wed. 6/13 from 9-9 with a Rosary at 6pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home. Mass will begin at 10am Thurs. 6/14 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church followed by a burial at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
