George Vincent Patser Obituary
George Vincent Patser
Dec 25, 1932 – Febr. 21, 2020
Resident of Los Gatos
George died peacefully on Feb. 21st at the Terraces of Los Gatos after 87 years of life.
He was born in Hungary and emigrated to the United States in 1956 with his wife Gabriella, following the Soviet suppression of the Hungarian Uprising. He was very happy and proved to be an American citizen and always had a flag on display, even at the Terraces.
George and Gabi were sponsored by Bob and Betsy Crothers and invited into their home in Pittsburg. He was always grateful for all the love and support shown by the Crothers family.
George was an engineer, researcher in the medial field, inventor, businessman, philanthropist and mentor. He received a patent for the goniastat/four angle instrument that measures DNA. In his business he developed products for the diagnostic medical field. He worked in management for U.S. Steel Fundamental Research, Picker International and Stanford, HP labs, Zerox PARC. Prior to starting his own business, Patser Associates, he was Vice President and part owner of Burke Scientific Incorporated.
George and Gabriella, with the help of Dr. Diana Guthaner and Dr. Ellen Mahoney, established the Gabriella Patser Program Fund in December of 1994 to help uninsured women gain access to mammography screening and other diagnostic tools. The Fund was given to Bay Area Cancer Connections in Palo Alto to manage.
George loved playing golf and working on Porsches with his good friend Chuck Stoddart. With his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, these activities were limited in his later years. He could continue with his favorite game of chess.
George is survived by his sister Anna Noska, nephew Gyorgi Noska and family in Hungary: nice, Judith Varga and family in England: niece, Zsuzsa Grandpierre and family in Canada.
He is also survived by his friend, companion and care giver of over 20 years, Laurel Hill and family.
