Lynn Aird Fairbairn passed away in Sequoia Hospital on October 20, 2018, surrounded by his four children, Jeffrey (Tina), Pamela (Tim) Blum, Janet Fairbairn, and Jennifer (Don) Mattei, 11grandchildren and 17great grandchildren.
He was born in Springside, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 24, 1929 and moved as a child with his family to Belmont, California. He graduated from Sequoia High School in 1947, the same year he married his wife of 68 years, Dolores Barrientos. Three years later he became a naturalized citizen. Lynn and Dolores also lived in Carson City, Nevada, for 12 years before he returned here three years ago.
Lynn was one of Belmont's first paid fire fighters and worked for chief Harry Chamberlain in the original fire house on Oneil Street near El Camino Real. He studied aeronautics at College of San Mateo which led to a 25 year career as a pilot for United Airlines. Before United he flew for Aaxico Air Lines hauling military cargo between Air Force bases. Prior to that he was a flight instructor at Palo Alto airport.
Besides flying he loved working on his house and yard, as well as motorcycles and cars. He also loved his many pets and was sure to feed the quail, wild birds, squirrels an rabbits that live in his yard.
