Virginia Ann Biondi Obituary
Virginia Ann Biondi
May 1, 1924 to July 24, 2024
Resident of Saratoga
Virginia Ann Biondi passed away peacefully in her home on Friday July 24th.
Virginia was born in the Bronx, NY on May 1, 1924 to Anthony and Marie Cappiello. For a woman of her time, she had a successful and varied business career: first as one of the first women to work at the American Stock Exchange in New York, to co-owning a lingerie shop with her sister, Laurie, in Yonkers, and then to co-owning University Art Center here in the Bay Area and Sacramento.
She moved to California with her parents and sister in 1947 and they settled in Palo Alto. It was in Palo Alto that the family bought an existing business and started University Art Center.
Virginia (Ginny) met her soon-to-be husband, Raymond Biondi, on a blind date and they married in 1958. Raymond and Virginia settled in Sunnyvale in 1965 where they raised their 4 children. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, dogs and her garden. She loved to read, garden, cook and be surrounded by her family and friends.
Ginny is survived by her 4 children Daniel Biondi (Vivian), Frank Biondi (Mari), Cornelia Pendleton (Nathan), Toni Conway (Devin) her five grandchildren and her two devoted dogs. She is also survived by her sister, Lauretta Cappiello.
We would like to thank all of her caregivers, especially Shannon, for their loving care and grace. We would also like to thank Hospice of the Valley as they truly are angels. Mom left a trail of friends who took such good care of her in so many different ways.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday July 27th at 5pm followed by a rosary at 7pm at Darling & Fischer Funeral Home, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos; and Funeral Mass on Tuesday July 28th at 11am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 219 Bean Ave., Los Gatos. Burial and interment will be a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Hospice of the Valley, ASPCA, or Catholic Charities.
