John Peter Cardosi
Resident of Santa Clara
Passed away on May 13, 2014 at the age of 60. Loving husband of Annette. Cherished father of Christine and Sarah. Dear brother of Richard.
John's distinguished legal career spanned more than 30 years of protecting people's rights. John began his career in Santa Clara valley, as an associate of Popelka, Allard, McCowan & Jones, later becoming a partner of the firm. Twelve years ago he joined Diemer, Whitman & Cardosi, LLP as a partner. John handled a number of landmark cases, including representing the Plaintiffs in one of the first cases involving the early use of social media and high school disciplinary actions. John's heart showed in the cases nearest and dearest to him: cases involving suits for compensation of children who had been abused. John was a member of the SCC Trial Lawyers Assoc., the SCC Bar Assoc., the Don Edwards Inn of Court, was a judge pro tem and on the mediation/arbitration panel for Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Destination Imagination was John's second love. He was a team manager for 6 years, taking his team to Global Finals 3 times. In addition to managing a team, John became an integral part of the Silicon Valley DI family as SV Regional Director and serving on the CA Creativity Assoc. Board of Directors. His love and belief in the program showed through his tireless efforts, humor, and enthusiasm.

John was the last attorney I worked for after Bernie retired. It was a privilege and a pleasure. I admired his spirit and intelligence. I will always remember him for his patience and humor.

To Annette, Christine and Sarah - my sincerest condolences. I share your grief. John was a dear and cherished friend for going on 30 years. He was also my co-worker and boss - but always first and foremost my friend. He was the voice of reason in the unreasonable legal field. He was unassuming and respected by his peers - he was one of the few "good guys" and I will miss him terribly. Rest in peace my dear friend. I am a better person for having known you.

We will miss John's leadership as RD in Silicon Valley and on the Affiliate Board, and his friendship. But more than that, it is his tireless service to our youth that will be missed. Our condolences to his family and friends.
