Allan Hamilton Hahman Obituary
Allan Hamilton Hahman
October 16, 1948 - June 19, 2015
Redwood City
After a brief respiratory illness, Allan Hahman passed away on June 19, 2015. He is survived by Pamela Sambuck, his life partner for over 20 years. He was the son of Dr. Paul and Thayer Hahman of San Francisco. Al graduated from Lowell High School. Al went on to graduate with honors from San Diego State University where he surfed, played golf and sang every Beach Boy song ever composed. He spoke often about his college summers working at Candlestick selling hot dogs, peanuts and beer. He moved back to northern California and began teaching at Las Lomitas Elementary School in Millbrae. Following that he became a sales representative for DHL, based in Alaska, among many other places. He later worked as a sales representative for Pacific Monarch where he became a manager. He bought a home in Redwood Shores and settled down to a relaxed semi-retirement allowing him time to often help friends improve their golf game. As a complete sport enthusiast he loved the Giants and held season tickets for Niners games for many years. He also worked security and donated time for Stanford University athletic department for all athletic events held on their campus. Al competed in many amateur golfing events and was most proud of winning the Ken Venturi Trophy in the San Francisco City Championship. He never met a golf course he didn't like and most courses recognize him in his - no matter what the weather - OP corduroy shorts and flip-flops. He only wore golf shoes when requested. Cruising and travel were high on Pam and Al's list and they made many trips to Hawaii, or any place that had a beach and sun. Al's sense of humor, smile and quick wit will be deeply missed by Pam and his many friends.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Shorebird Clubhouse at the corner for Marine World Parkway and Island Drive in Redwood Shores. In keeping with Al's style, please come casually and comfortably dressed. Sign the guestbook at www.crippenflynn.com
