Heidi Krueger Obituary

Heidi Krueger

Heidi Hoefler Krueger, 52, of Los Gatos, passed away peacefully on Saturday, 5/10/06. Heidi was born in Falls Church, Virginia on 11/4/53, the daughter of an Air Force family; She was a proud "Air Force brat", having grown up at various Air Force base locations in Salina Kansas, Cheyenne Wyoming, and Edwards AFB/California, to name a few. Perhaps it was the fact that she moved to a new base every few years that caused Heidi to make friends so easily, and to be so flexible, traits that marked her personality and everything she did for her entire life.Heidi's parents, George & Harriet Hoefler, taught her the values of hard work, loyalty, and above all, giving. If God divided the world into givers and takers, Heidi was surely at the head of the givers column.Heidi's father retired from the Air Force in the 1960's; after 1 year in Tiburon CA, they settled in Los Altos, where Heidi went to Los Altos High, graduating in 1971, and developed life long friends.Heidi went into banking, and became one of the youngest branch Managers in the banking industry. She moved to Los Gatos in the early 80's, and became branch manager for Great Western bank, in town. After more than 20 years in banking, WAMU bought Great Western bank, and Heidi took a severance package; she tried to retire, but couldn't stay away from the business and people she had committed herself to. So after ~ 6 months of retirement, she agreed to become the branch manager of Bank of the West, on the condition that she remain in Los Gatos, and manage the local Bank of the West branch. BOW, Heidi and the people in Los Gatos all prospered as a result of this arrangement. On July 27, 1987, Heidi gave birth to Justin, the pride and joy of her life.Heidi met Bob Krueger at a 49ers Super Bowl party in January '95. She combined her son Justin together with Bob's 3 sons, Chris, Kevin and Scott, and a new family was formed in 1997, when they married in August. Though the levels of "testosterone" in the Krueger house were sometimes extremely high for Heidi, ("I need to spend time with girls") she would often leave for the refuge of her friend Patty Monteverde's 3 grand-daughters, Katelyn, Kristen & Jennifer, where she would tutor them in the fine art of high heels and red lipstick. Heidi will be missed by the thousands of people whose life she touched deeply, whether helping them with their finances, cheering for her sons at countless football and basketball games, serving on the board for the Los Gatos Foundation, being an active LG Lions Club member, or just tailgating at her beloved 49ers games. Her life was marked by love, commitment and an infectious enthusiasm for everything she did. Above all, Heidi was a Giver, giving everything she had to her family, her customers, her co-workers and her friends. She is survived by her sons Justin, Scott, Kevin & Chris Krueger, and her husband Bob. Services will be held on Tuesday 6/13, from 4-8PM, with a prayer vigil at 7PM; it is tentatively located at Calvary Church, in Los Gatos. A celebration of Heidi's life is scheduled for Wed 6/14 at 3PM, at Cavalry Church. Pls call 408-448-0285 after noon on Monday to verify the exact location of both services; Pls send all flowers to Darling-Fischer Chapel of the Hills in Los Gatos.

I met Heidi on the first day of school of our freshman year at Los Altos High and our friendship continued over the years with each reunion, as if we never missed a beat. One year, she showed up in a gold dress that seemed to be the perfect number for our "golden girl" former cheerleader; gorgeous! She looked the same as the day I met her; vibrant and lovely! Heidi was so proud to introduce her husband and talked of "her boys"; it was obvious that they were her world. We would meet at Los Altos Bar & Grill with our old classmates and laugh nonstop and and dance together ... what a hoot we had! We were hoarse the next day. Whenever I needed a "volunteer" for a committee or project, Heidi was always there with that big smile of hers. I will never forget my friend, Heidi, and I am sorry that she has left us too soon. My condolences to her entire family.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

I just heard that Heidi is no longer with us and I was shocked and saddened. She was such a warm and loving soul and made life so fun for everyone she met. I met her at GW bank in LG as a customer but she always made me feel like a good friend. She was too young and vibrant to leave us and will be missed.

Take care and God Bless all of you.

Dear Bob, Justin, Chris, Kevin, and Scotty,

Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you and the loss you are suffering. I keep reflecting on my visit to you in San Jose and the warm and loving hospitality that was extended to me by Heidi. Every time I talked to her, it was as if I had known her all my life. Our family will miss her larger-than-life personality. May God bless your family.

Dear Krueger Family,

I have known Heidi for about 23 years. She was my manager at Great Western Savings. Back in the days when all the girls at the bank were single and having fun. She was wonderful to work for and loved by all. She always had a smile on her face and was so caring for everyone she came in contact with. I had a lot of fun and great memories working their. When closing time was near all of the tellers would balance their drawers but one, who had to stay open in case a last minute customer came in. At 4pm sharp we would lock the doors, count the last drawer and be out the door before 4:30pm. From their we headed down to Pedro's. Many fond memories...

Then, one by one, we all got married and started having our kids. When her son, Justin, was born, he was the light of her life. She was so happy. A year later my daughter, Christina Valentine, was born. Eventually she and Justin were in school together and went to "club wedge", as they use to call it. Heidi and I couldn't get over that our kids were such great friends. Who would have guessed...

I haven't seen her since Justin's graduation. As soon as we saw each other we hugged and cried in disbelief that her little guy was now graduating. She was so proud of him. She promised that she would be at Christina's graduation this Friday, June 16th and I knew she would be. She will be with us in spirit. She will be greatly missed.

I always admired Heidi in many ways. She was beautiful inside and out. She always looked perfect. Perfect hair, clothes, shoes and makeup. She always looked fabulous. Her smile was infectious and even though we didn't run into each other too often, when we did she always had a hug for me.

She will always be with all of us and I know I will never forget her. I am sure everyone who knew her is a better person for it.

Sincerely,

Mary Kay Oliphant

Heidi was one of my favorite neighbors. Bob Demmon and I would greet her and her dogs almost daily at their afternoon walk. She was always bright, smiling, happy and a joy to talk to. My deepest sympathies to those that are closest to her. What a wonderful and fun woman.

Both Chris and I feel the loss of this wonderful, giving woman deeply. After Chris lost his mother, Heidi, God bless her, stepped in as much as possible to try and fill that void in Chris' life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob, Justin and the boys. We will miss her.

We were very sad to hear of Heidi's sudden passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family.

Heidi would walk her dogs, or they would walk her, daily in our neighborhood. It was always a pleasure to see her smiling face and talk about the 49ers. We will miss her very much.

Not enough time was probably the only thing that kept Heidi from being everyone's best friend... I only saw her a handful of times through the years after high school. Each time, that smile, that effortless display of love, always reminded me that the world really is a great place.

During your life, there are very few people in this world that give life to your angels. Heidi, thank you for giving life to mine.

I went to High school with Heidi. She was always so very kind to me, in a time that I needed kindness the most. Heidi was so very special -- becasue she was so very real. I remember seeing her at the bank in Los Altos...it was always wonderful to see her. Her smile would light up a room.

I am so very saddened to hear that she is no longer with us. My heart felt prayers and thoughts are with all of you in this time of loss. To say "let me know if there is anything I can do" seems so trite somehow, but I do feel that way with all my heart. I will be there on Weds.

We will greatly miss Heidi's glowing presence and bar none the best "get up and go gal" I've ever met. Words cannot express our sadness. Heidi was such a treasured friend to my mom Lucy and in typical Heidi fashion was there for me and my son in our toughest of times - typical Heidi. We will never ever forget her.

With heavy hearts,

Greg & Claudia Hartley and my boys, Josh and Taylor
