Frances had grace and charmand was fierce, gracefully and charmingly so, but fierce when it came to advocacy for equal rights.
Frances and I met through poetry. We discovered we had the same birthday, March 13, and so we started a tradition that lasted for years of lunching together along with Mary Lou Taylor, another poet who was born on March 12. This annual lunch was held no matter what, but sometimes due to other obligations, it took us until July to make it happen. As i said, the three of us were poets, and we all served on the board of Poetry Center San Jose ( known at that time as the San Jose Center for Poetry and Literature).
When I lost my son in 1991, Frances and I became even closer. Now we were connected, not just by a date on the calendar, but by loss. She will always have a place in my heart.

My sincere condolences at the loss of Frances to her children and grandchildren. I'm sure that she leaves many good memories on which to reflect for all.
Frances was a very generous person whom I met through Lisa and she was always openly friendly with a smile. I worked both with Charlie and Lisa while at Lockheed and honor their lives with sincere appreciation of their achievements and friendships.
Losing a loved one is always difficult especially when they were so vital in life -- Frances will be missed but her legacy lives on.
