Margaret McKenney Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Joan McKenney
August 1, 1931 - February 2, 2020
Former resident of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara
Peggy was born in Osakis, Minnesota. She later moved to Los Angeles, CA, in her teens where she continued her high school education. While living in Los Angeles she worked as a telephone operator. She eventually married and had 3 children. Peggy later moved to Santa Clara county and made Sunnyvale and Santa Clara her home for over 5 decades. She worked as a secretary in the medical field, followed by secretarial jobs for the tech companies at the beginning of the Silicon Valley tech boom.
Once she retired in her mid 60's, she was able to pursue her passion for art. She was a skilled artist, having won some awards for her paintings. She also enjoyed drawing, reading, movies and plays, socializing with friends and taking classes at the senior center. Peggy later moved to La Quinta, CA, to be closer to her children.
Peggy was a devoted daughter having been her mother's caregiver and support system for many years. Our mom will always be remembered for the love, care and concern she provided to her children as well as her love for animals, especially cats. We feel grateful for having had such a special person in our lives.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Joel C. Anderson and Martha J. Ahlstrom and her brother John C. Anderson. Peggy leaves behind her children Steven (Juana), Scotty (Krissy), and Melinda aka Johnney (Timothy). She also leaves behind her beloved cat "BeBe".
