Karen was born May 8, 1950, in Nampa, Idaho. At the age of 63 she went to go be with her Lord and Savior, July 20, 2013, at her home in Emmett, Idaho.
Karen was the oldest child of Theodore and Francis Hoff. Karen was raised in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, where she attended grade school and later on attended and graduated from Emmett High School. She met her high school sweetheart Warren L. Harris while in high school.
She attended the University of Idaho for two years, but decided it was time to marry. Warren and Karen were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend on Jan. 8, 1972.
Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very caring soul and had a heart of gold. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Emmett. She loved gardening, plants and especially flowers. Karen worked at Flowerland Floral in Emmett for numerous years. She enjoyed making arrangements, taking orders, discussing flowers and delivering flowers to people. She also enjoyed making dried flower arrangements and was involved in many craft shows with her sorority sister and dear friend, Ann Finney.
Karen liked to have a good time and had many sorority parties on her family's ranch along the Salmon River. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and making sure they were all having a good time. She loved to tell stories and of course she loved to throw in a joke or two. She loved "having the floor" during her parties.
Karen was involved with the Gem/Boise County Fair and was in charge of the "expo building" for numerous years. She enjoyed setting up for different entries of the fair and finding the right judge for each division. She treated her judges and helpers well by providing them with an excellent luncheon, beverages and of course great stories and jokes.
Karen was a devoted grandmother. A friend of the family once said "when I die, I want to come back as one of Karen Harris' grandkids." Karen had a tendency to spoil them just a little bit. She was very involved in her grandchildren's activities.
Karen loved staying around the house. She enjoyed being around her children and grandchildren and loved to watch her mystery cop, NCIS type shows on television. She loved to solve puzzles. She enjoyed crocheting while watching her television programs and made beautiful crochet blankets in her time. During the summer, she liked to spend quality time with family, at the family cabin at Warm Lake. Huckleberry season was a treat for her.
Karen was a fan of the Utah Jazz, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boy mystery books and an avid fan of Danielle Steele. She enjoyed plays, musicals and especially enjoyed the movie "Mama Mia." Karen was a wonderful mother and she will be "greatly" missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore "Bunn" Hoff and Francis Barnett Hoff.
Karen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Warren L. Harris of Emmett; four children, Melissa Smith (West Melbourne, Fla.), Christin Harris Peterson (Chris) of Emmett, Jody Harris of Emmett and Warren T. Harris of Shoreline, Wash.; her sister, Rebecca "Becky" Hoff, of Seattle, Wash. and a brother, Trey (Lorie) Hoff, of Boise; mother-in-law, Lois Sanders (Betzold); eight grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her godson Eric Soderling; and two Horseshoe Bend girlfriends, Bonnie Dobson Brazier and Jody Wilkinson Gibson.
