Graveside service for Thyrl Q. Bray, 100, of Emmett, Idaho, who died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at home, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Emmett Cemetery. The procession will leave the Potter Funeral Chapel at 10:45 a.m. for the cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 3 until 8 p.m.; and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the chapel.
Thyrl was born on Nov. 15, 1912, at Kimble, Neb., to Benjamin and Agusta Bray. He moved with his family to Albion, Idaho, in 1921 and then to Emmett in 1935. Thyrl worked in the mines in Idaho and various places around Emmett until the outbreak of WWII.
He married Eller Moore in 1942. Eller and Thyrl moved to Longview, Wash., where he trained to be a welder and worked in the ship yard until the end of the war when they returned to Emmett. He worked at the Ford Garage for a while, then went to work in the woods where he logged for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and his wife in 1985.
Thyrl is survived by a son Bennie Bray; two grandchildren Stacey and Rod Hurd and Sean and Jackie Bray; three great-grandchildren Aimy Bratt, Kyle and Kayla Hurd; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
