Donald J. Connell Obituary
Donald (Don) Joseph Connell, 87, a resident of Framingham, MA for 55 years, died on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Don was born on November 22, 1931 in Spokane, WA. He was the son of the late Laurence J. Connell and Agnes E. (Welsch) Connell and was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Lyn) M. (Pringle) Connell for 58 years. Don graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA with a Bachelors in Business Administration and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army. Don worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Boeing in Seattle, WA for 4 years and GTE in Needham, MA for 28 years, and then worked at H&R Block in Natick, MA for 10 years. Don was an avid downhill skier and spread his joy of skiing to his family and friends. Don enjoyed learning about meteorology, astronomy, and photography by taking college classes after retirement. He also enjoyed traveling, attending the symphony, leatherworking, and fixing anything that was broken. Don and Lyn were active members of St. Jeremiah Parish for 35 years where they were involved in Eucharistic Ministry, Religious Education, and Marriage Preparation. They were also involved in Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter. Besides his wife Lyn, Don is survived by his children Michael J. Connell of Laguna Niguel, CA, Maureen M. Connell (Alonzo DeBerry) of Nashua, NH, and James P. Connell of Pleasanton, CA, and grandsons Steven Connell of Boston, MA, Andrew Connell of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Benjamin and Nicholas Kuchta of Denver, CO. Don is also survived by his two nieces Kathleen Connell and Susan Larsen of WA. Don was preceded in death by his older brother Laurence F. Connell and his wife Mary B. Connell, both of WA. Don traveled a long road of multiple health issues with dignity and gratefulness to all who attended him. Family and friends will honour and remember Dons life by gathering for visiting hours at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Framingham, MA on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 12:00 | 2:00pm. Celebration of Life Mass will be at St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham, MA on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.
