Beverly McEldowney Obituary
Beverly McEldowney, 77, of Bad Axe, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018. Beverly was born in Troy on Oct. 15, 1940, daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel (Currier) Boulan. Bev graduated from Troy High School in 1957, and worked for the JL Hudson Company until she married Tom Measel in 1962 and moved to Attica. Bev and Tom raised their two children on a Morgan Horse farm. She was known for her huge garden and her love of canning and jam making. Bev taught Sunday school for many years at the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer and volunteered at many Church functions. Bev and Tom threw an annual pig and corn roast for family and neighbors. Bev loved to travel. She and Tom spent many summers taking motorcycle trips around the United States. After Tom died, Bev met and later married Russ McEldowney. He taught her to golf and Bev became a regular on the links. She joined a league and later won the ladies league championship at Greenbriar Club in Mayville. Bev and Russ wintered in Florida for several years until they purchased a home in Kingman, Arizona. She loved playing cards when company came to visit or reading a good book when she was alone. She also loved being outside, often raking the pine needles off the trails behind her house, just so she could be outdoors. Her favorite pastime was baking. She always had freezer full of cookies for the neighbors and grandkids. She loved to travel and take pictures. After Russ died, Bev met Vern Rounds. Bev and Vern also did extensive traveling. Vern introduced Bev to Hockey and she became a fan. They traveled around the United States watching Vern's grandson play Hockey. When she lived in Caro, she was a member of the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist church. Beverly is survived by: Her sons, Andrew Measel of Hazel Park, and Anthony Boulan of Hazel Park, brothers, Bill Boulan of Lewiston, Herb Boulan of Dryden; and special friend, Vern Rounds of Bad Axe; step children Shelly (David) Allan of Caro, Jackie (Robert) Collier of Almont, Roslyn (Robert) Weiderhold of Davison, Patrica Coates, Burton, David (Sheila) McEldowney of Tuscola and Maxine Bullard of Davison; 11 grand children and 14 great grandchildren.
