Clayton Alexander Evans Obituary
Clayton Alexander Evans, 69, of Ubly, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018. He was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Lapeer, at his grandparent's home, son of the late Carl and Margaret (Slieff) Evans. He married Patricia Particka Oct. 4, 1980, at First Missionary Church in Bad Axe. He worked for John Deere in Bad Axe and retired in 2013 from Tower Automotive after 42 years. Clayton is survived by his wife Patricia; brothers Walter (Esther) Evans, Jeffrey (Linda) Evans, of Bad Axe, Keith (Debbie) Evans, Tuscon, Arizona; sister Joann (Chris) Gerstenschlager, Bad Axe; in-laws Mike (Denise) Particka, Joseph (Marlene) Particka of Ubly, James (Chona) Particka of San Diego, Sharon Particka and husband, Steven Laing of Roberts, Wisconsin, Linda Williams and friend, Art Kramer, of Nashville, Tennessee; aunt Marilyn Durham Hunt, North Carolina; uncle Clayton Slieff, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Margaret Johannh; father- and mother-in-law Florian and Irene Particka, and Margaret Particka; and many aunts and uncles. While Clayton and Patty had no children, they touched the lives of many foreign exchange students they hosted in their home and consider as their own. Andrea of Ecuador; Ulya of Azerbaijan; Carlos of Venezuela; Han Sol, Woongbin and Ryan of South Korea; Hiroko of Japan; Nicola of Italy; D Michen, Yuqi, Gengming, Celia of China; Darren of Malaysia; Rawisara, Cartoon, Pichaya, and Buabonkoj (Annie) of Thailand; Henry of Kenya; Sahobiddin of Tajikistan; Azra of Albania; Astrid of Indonesia; Lena of Ukraine; Charlotte of Senegal; Lea of Switzerland. He has 10 grandchildren and is also known as Grandpa Clayton to Asher, Josiah, Lydia Plank and Edwinn Foster. Clayton enjoyed attending tractor pulls and shows in the summer with his brother Walt and nephew Isaiah, and grew up helping on the Jurgess farms in Verona. He was a supporter of High School sports at Ubly and enjoyed bleacher refereeing during the football and basketball games. He was fond of joining the guys at Fast Freddies in the afternoon to participate in lively conversations, was a past member of the John Deere 2-cylinder club, and loved to watch NFL and college football on TV. He was happy to accompany Patty around the world as they traveled to visit their children traveling to China, Thailand, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, London, England, and most recently, Indonesia, and with AYA to Austria and Costa Rica among a few. But most of all Clayton loved his Heavenly Father. Active in the Bad Axe Missionary Church for over 30 years as the church treasurer, he currently attended the Elkton Missionary Church where he served as a deacon. Per Clayton's request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Elkton Missionary Church in Elkton, MI.
