Florence Swackhamer Obituary
Florence Swackhamer, 92, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born on May 28, 1926, in Bad Axe, daughter of the late Duncan and Sara (Robinson) Campbell. She married Robert Swackhamer on April 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2009. Florence loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren, and going out on Thursday mornings with her breakfast group. She was a member of the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Eastern Stars. Florence is survived by her children Nancy Streussnig of Bad Axe, Larry (Holly) Swackhamer of Bad Axe, Robert (Kirsten) Swackhamer of Brighton, Michael (Kathy) Swackhamer of Oak Hill, West Virginia, Matthew (fiancée Jane Critser) Swackhamer of Colombus, Nebraska; grandchildren Jason (Amy) Swackhamer of Frankenmuth, Jody Streussnig of Lakeland, Florida, Paul (Ashley) Streussnig of Bad Axe, Joshua (Nichole) Swackhamer of Saginaw, Derek and Jarod Swackhamer of Howell, step-grandson Casey Zimmerman of Allendale; great-grandchildren Cooper, Gabriella and Avery Swackhamer of Saginaw, Ashlinn, Laniey and Jacob Swackhamer of Frankenmuth and Shealynn Streussnig of Bad Axe; and sisters-in-law Jeannette Campbell of Cheybogan and Marie Swackhamer of Caro. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Robert Swackhamer; son-in-law Paul Streussnig; brothers Kenneth (Florence) Campbell, Grant Campbell, WJ (Marcella) Campbell, Clayton (Bertha) Campbell; sister Irene Dubey; and brothers-in-law Edward (JoAnn) Swackhamer, Warren Swackhamer and Raymond (Elaine) Swackhamer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe . Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at the Kaufman Funeral Home or Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to A&D Home and Hospice.
