Carole Crayton Obituary
Crayton, Carole
Carole Elaine (Curry) Crayton, of Higganum, passed away Thursday December 28, at the age of 75. Born in Dayton, OH, Carole was the daughter of Leo Dean and Ava Louise (Jamason) Curry, one of two children born of that marriage. Carole graduated from Central State University in Ohio and obtained her master's degree from Eastern Michigan State University. Carole began her teaching career in the Michigan Public Schools and was named Teacher of the Year by The Detroit News. Carole married James Winston Crayton and they moved to Higganum, CT, where they raised their two children. As a teacher for the Middletown Public Schools for 35 years, Carole taught and inspired countless students. After retiring from teaching, Carole spent time traveling and with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod, listening to music, and spending time with her grandchildren, Andrew and Avery. Simply making sure that Andrew got on the school bus in the morning, watching him drive to the basket or sink a putt, or holding Avery brought her more joy than any of us can imagine. Carole is survived by her husband James, her son Marc Crayton, his wife Kimberly, and her grandchildren Andrew and Avery Crayton, all of Higganum, CT, as well as her daughter Ava Crayton of New York, NY. Friends may call upon the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thurs. January 4 at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Services will be held on Fri. January 5 at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole's memory may be made to the , https://donatenow.heart.org/ or Tait's Every Animal Matters, http://everyanimalmatters.org/.
