Joan (Misenti) Schaffrick Fazzino, 81, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was predeceased by her husbands Charles R. Schaffrick and Joseph J. Fazzino.
Joan was born in Middletown on September 18,1936, daughter of the late Joseph S. and Anna (Watras) Misenti.
Joan lived in Middletown most of her life, with time in Florida and Cape Cod. She was the Communicant at Saint Pius X Church in Middletown and a member of their choir. She is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson high School Class of 1954, and Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing class of 1957. She attended Central Connecticut State University in Middlesex Community College. Joan was employed by Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Home Care Services and Wesleyan University and Connecticut Valley Hospital where she retired from in 1992.
Joan is survived by a son, Charles J. Schaffrick and his wife Melissa of Middletown; sister, Frances Hanley of Avon; three grandchildren, Michael J. Ely of Las Vegas, Charles J. Schaffrick Jr. and his companion Tiffany of Meriden and Daniel B. Schaffrick of Middletown and his companion Amy; three great-grandchildren, Tavian Maldonado, Tennnyson Maldonado and Beau Schaffrick; a niece, Erin Hanley, of Avon; a nephew, Thomas Tomlinson and his wife Anna of Florida; a sister-in-law, Paulette Tomlinson of Florida, and several cousins. Joan was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Schaffrick.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Burial will be held at Indian Hill Cemetery.
