Paul Angelo Morello, Sr., 87, of Cromwell, husband of the late Cecelia (Lockhart) Morello, died Saturday June 9, 2018 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. He was born in Middletown, son of the late Angelo and Carmelina (Branciforte) Morello. Paul was an Army veteran, serving as part of the peacekeeping force during the Korean War in Bad Stoltz Germany as a Sergeant First Class with Company "K", 169th Infantry Regiment. He was very proud of his military service and was a member of area veterans groups. Paul was an accomplished automobile mechanic, baker, pizza maker, and woodworker and the owner of Morello's Gulf Service Station on South Main Street in Middletown. He is survived by his sons, Paul A. Morello, Jr. and his wife Rosanne of Middletown and David F. Morello of Rocky Hill; his six grandchildren, Sarah Morello Shoemaker and her husband Derek of Middletown, Matthew Morello of Providence, RI, John-Paul Morello, Alyssa Morello, Meaghan Morello and Gabrielle Morello all of Middletown; and one great-granddaughter, Norah Shoemaker. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jacqueline Tomassone of Cromwell, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Mae Palmieri. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday (June 15th) at 9 a.m. at the State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
