Gigliotti, Rena C.
Rena C. (Faraci) Gigliotti, 100, of Middletown, formerly of New Britain, passed away on November 11, 2017, at Wadsworth Glen Health Care. Born Rena Talarico on March 29, 1917, to William and Margaret (Giamettei) Talarico, Rena graduated from New Britain High School in 1936. She left New Britain in 1946 to live in Middletown when she married Middletown Sports Hall of Famer Theodore C. "Chick" Faraci. After his death in 1958, she raised their four children in Middletown, returning to New Britain when she remarried in 1973. After she was widowed in 1990, she remained in New Britain as an active member of St. Ann's Church. She returned to Middletown in 2014 to be closer to her family, moving to Luther Ridge Assisted Living and later to Wadsworth Glen Health Care.
Rena was predeceased by her husband and the father of her children, Theodore C. Faraci of Middletown. A loving mother to her four children and their spouses, Francine Tarnow and her husband, Michael, Philip Faraci and his wife, Julia, Kenneth Faraci and his wife Carol, and Theodore A. Faraci and his wife, Joyce, Rena is also survived by her granddaughters Lucinda, Leslie, and Rose, and great-grandchildren Alexzandria, Isabella, Madison, Michael, and Aayden; her brother, Phillip Talarico and his wife, Gloria, and her cousin, Helen DeChesser. She was also predeceased by her brother, Guido (Ann) Talarico of New Britain, and sister Mary (Harvey) Bass of Hamden.
Rena will be remembered for her kindness and sweet nature by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wadsworth Glen for their compassionate care of Rena.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Elm Street, Middletown. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
