Gertrude B. "Trudy" Guida Obituary
Gertrude "Trudy" B. Guida, 84, of Coleman Road, Middletown, wife of Joseph M. Guida, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford.
She was born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Henry and Matilda (Grossman) Breier. Trudy graduated Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1944, attended Ryder College on a scholarship and received her master's and teaching certificate from Central Connecticut State College. She worked as an executive secretary for the Ripely Company for many years before working for the Madison School System, where she taught High School for 18 years before retiring in 1978.
Married for 60 years, Trudy and Joe enjoyed traveling to over 20 countries and countless cruises. Trudy had many passions which included cooking, gardening, an avid bowler and love for animals and nature. Along with her husband Joe, she was part of Sunshine Dairy, Sunshine Realty and the Guida Conservation. She was a lifetime member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the States Teachers Association.
Trudy was predeceased by a sister, Ann Ney and a brother, Gustav Breier. In addition to her lifelong friend, companion and husband, Joseph, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10:30 service at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Randolph Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
