So sorry to hear of the loss of Chris. I met him at the the gym in East Hampton where one day he struck up a conversation with me regarding the Breaking Bad T-shirt I was wearing. He told me how big of a fan he and his wife were of the show and how he actually bought rock candy "meth" for her for Christmas which I thought was not only hilarious but totally awesome. From then on he was one of the people I looked forward to seeing at 5am. I have an infant nephew that I excitedly would share stories with him about and in exchange he would tell me about his grandkids and always seemed so proud. I will miss his smiling face and his jokes dearly.

Colleen, Rick and I were so sorry to hear of Chris' passing and to think of the sorrow you must be feeling. We remember you and Chris fondly from the days when our son Alex and your son, Ben were playmates here in Portland. We had a lot of good times together and regret that time and circumstances parted our ways. I will remember Chris for his great barbecue and his love of Peter Max's artwork, as well as my picture of him enjoying his family and friends. He was a great man who helped us and many others. He will be missed in Portland and the world. If there is anything we can do to help you in this difficult time, please call or visit. I hope Ben is bearing the loss. Please tell him we miss him and give him a big hug for us. We extend a loving hand to you and all of your family. May your sorrow be eased by the happy and loving memories you gathered. I worked with Chris on the 2010 campaign. I could tell he was a man of convictions. He gave much support to my friend Kayleigh during the campaign and the years following. I would often receive Chris' posts from the gym (which were sent at very early hours) detailing his progress, to which I responded with encouraging words. He will be missed!

So sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Hetrick. I have fond memories of his community service in our small town. I worked with Ben for a short time at the Movie Gallery and I always thought how wonderful both his parents did raising such an intelligent funny kind and charismatic young man who felt called to serve his country. The community as a whole as well as myself mourn the loss of such an amazing community service man and outstanding example of what a family man truly is. Rest in peace Mr. Hetrick. My thoughts love and prayers go out to your wonderful family. You will be missed but may the memories you gave to us all help us through the sadness.
