I have so many great memories with Chris most involving swimming and beer.
Chris was an unlikely "matchmaker" but set me up with my now wife of 20 years and was there for our first date.
I was bummed when Chris decided to leave the West coast but we kept in touch and I enjoyed hearing about his new passion working with dogs.
Chris was such a great guy; quick witted and always smiling; he will be greatly missed.
I think I can speak for all his San Diego friends that we are deeply saddened by his loss, too young, too soon.

I met Chris through mutual friends years ago. We had alot of laughs and fun skiing, on my visits to San Diego to see his buds and when he would come to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe with them to swim the bay and lake. In a sense, he rang the bell retiring early to a place he loved with his dogs to live with friends around him. Yet, as we all know, he left way too soon. I guess you can't have everything. What we learned from Chris will make us miss him that much more.

I was just told of Chriss passing yesterday, I so deeply dont want to believe it!!! PhD, Summa Cum Laude Dog Trainer, and awesome, quick-witted friend. My dogs (ok, actually me) would have been huge fails without his exceptional training expertise, guidance and persistent good natured teasing. All of us who are Chriss dog friends in Minnesota through training, rescue or both, are devastated and would welcome an opportunity to do something helpful for Chriss human family, for Sunny and Carly, for honoring Chriss memory. Marian, I gave my contact info to Sam at the funeral home, please reach out and let me know what we Minnesotans can do. Chris, as you already long knew, your voice will forever be in Dakotas, Indis, Tumbles and my heads, you will always be in our hearts, and we will continue to relentlessly practice sit up to please you. What you maybe didnt know was how very much you will be missed by so many.

Chris was a gentle, kind, and generous man. He volunteered for the rescue I work at and provided foster dogs with training and stimulation. He was always reliable and positive. He also helped many of our adopters after the dogs had been adopted. A great man with a kind soul. If there is anything we can do to help out whoever is taking care of his dogs such as sending pet supplies, please let me know.

Chris was great swimmer, PhD but never made you feel less than. Amazing ocean swimmer which is not easy for alot of fast pool swimmers to duplicate. My company used to clean his carpets and windows when he lived in Carlsbad. Can't believe he died so young? What happened?

We enjoyed Chris' (and his two best friend's) company at the cabin in Remer, MN. Many nights spent by the campfire, on the boat (of course with Sonny along) and at dinner time with our family. A very nice man with a big heart. He will be missed.

Chris was a neighbor along with his kids, Sonny and Carley. We will miss talking with him in our front yard and letting his dogs run around. RIP my friend

I am so sorry to hear about Chris passing away. From the minute I knew my boys sport of choice was swimming, I thought of Chris. He and I reconnected in 2014 when I told him my oldest was going to swim at Minnesota. So sorry we didnt connect in person when I was close. He was always a nice guy and will be missed by many. Cant believe we have lost another classmate from the Class of 1977. RIP Chris
