Marlene M. Lyon, 86, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Friday, February 22, 2019, at DeKalb County Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on June 12, 1932, in DeKalb, the daughter of Clarence and Effie (Pearson) Jacox, Marlene married Max C. Lyon Sr. on August 30, 1952, in DeKalb.

Marlene attended a business school in Chicago after she graduated from high school. She was in customer service for Lyon's Window Wonderland for many years that later became McKonkey Interiors. She did accounting for the store as well as Lyon's Shell, Lyon's Oil and was the treasurer for DeKalb County Animal Welfare for over 30 years. Marlene was baptized at First Baptist church in DeKalb; she was active in a local breakfast club, a knitting club and the Class Club of 1950. Marlene loved her dogs and cats, especially Max the dog.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Lyon of Denver, Colorado; her sons, Terry Lyon of Cortland, Tim Lyon of DeKalb; daughter-in-law, Diane Lyon of Fairbanks, Alaska; two grandchildren, Krissy (Chris) Samples, Andy (Becky) Lyon; two great-grandchildren, Max, Deklyn; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max C. Lyon Sr.; her son, Max C. Lyon Jr.; and her sister, Betty Jean Lyons.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Marlene M. Lyon Memorial Fund, addressed to the Lyon Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
