ROBERT F. BARRAGAN, SR.
MARCH 1, 1926 - MARCH 6, 2015
Robert F. Barragan, Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully at home in Turlock on Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born in Mexicali, MX and immigrated to Brawley, CA at a young age. Robert attended school only until 8th grade, noticing that contributing to his family was precedent. A man who appreciated hard-work and dedication to craft, Robert enjoyed physical labor and taking care of his family; attributes that would continue throughout his livelihood. Robert and his wife moved to Turlock, CA in 1957 making it their permanent residence.
Robert served in the United States Army and was invited to the White House by President Harry Truman's wife. He is a life member of the VFW Post 5059 and American Legion Rexish Post 88.
Robert thoroughly enjoyed special occasions that entailed his family all being together; he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren thrive in their personal lives. Each year, he had much anticipation for his Lake Tahoe vacation and was fond of gambling and the outdoors.
Robert appreciated the simple life consisting of spending his days gardening, watching classic movies, and spending time with his dog Bruiser. He was a lover of all food and enjoyed collectibles.
Robert Barragan Sr. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Esperanza, and children Luisa, Esperanza "SP", Elizabeth, and Lionel (Denise). He will be remembered by his grandchildren, great grandchild, nephews, nieces, and an admiring local community consisting of close friends (compadres). He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Barragan, Jr.
The Barragan family is grateful for the health care provided by local physicians and specialists in Turlock and the surrounding Modesto area.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 4:00PM - 8:00PM with a prayer rosary scheduled for 7:00PM at Lakewood Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel), 900 Sante Fe Ave., Hughson, CA.
A Memorial service will follow on Friday, March 13th at 10:00AM at the Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel.

To the Barragan Family,
My husband, Russell and I, lived behind you on North Quincy Rd for over 13 years. We would always hear your father working in the garage and had several opportunities to rescue Bruiser when he decided to cruise the neighborhood. And in the summertime we would enjoy hearing your family swim party get-togethers :-) Your family is in our prayers and thoughts.
